The inspirational classic The Greatest Salesman in the World has been translated into over 22 languages and sold millions of copies worldwide.

It was not written as a how-to guide for salespeople looking to become the most successful salesperson at their company or place of business. Rather, the book is a unique way for individuals to learn how to empower themselves so that they can achieve their own unique full potential in sales.

Many people are intimidated by the world of sales, so Og Mandino's book helps people to develop the confidence they need in order to be successful in the world of business and sales.  Iindividuals who are new to the world of business as well as those who are seasoned in the field of sales can benefit from this book, making it an invaluable resource to business professionals of all skill levels.

"I will recognize that each day I am tested in this manner. If I persist, if I continue to try, if I continue to charge forward, I will succeed. I will persist until I succeed." - The Greatest Salesman in the World

Readers who are curious as to how to motivate themselves to succeed will appreciate and enjoy the work and stories illustrated in The Greatest Salesman in the World. Published in 1968 and then re-issued in 1983, this short guide is only 128 pages. However, these few pages make up a classic guide which clearly and concisely illustrates the philosophy and psychology of salesmanship.

A third edition of this book was published in 1993 in the form of the first hardcover edition of The Greatest Salesman in the World. Despite the brevity of the book, Mandino suggest a reading plan which would make the overall reading time of the book around ten months. The reason for this is because Mandino suggests reading key passages in the book three times a day for thirty days straight. This is part of how he believes the individual will be able to effectively empower himself or herself. Even if readers choose another reading structure, the book can still help them greatly.

The primary message of the book is to act now. It is repeated over and over again in order to get into the mindset of the reader.

"I will act now." - The Greatest Salesman in the World

The Greatest Salesman in the World was actually quoted by actor Matthew McConaughey as having changed his life. Others can enjoy this change as well by reading the notes and lessons set forth by Og Mandino in this book. The book is broken into ten main sections, The Legend of the Ten Scrolls:

  • Scroll 1: Commitment
  • Scroll 2: Love
  • Scroll 3: Persistence
  • Scroll 4: Miracle
  • Scroll 5: Time
  • Scroll 6: Emotion
  • Scroll 7: Laughter
  • Scroll 8: Value
  • Scroll 9: Action
  • Scroll 10: Guidance

About the Author:

Og Mandino's hometown was in Natick, Massachusetts, after Og and his family immigrated to the United States from Italy. Mandino's favorite color was green and when he autographed his books, he would sign them with a green pen. The Greatest Salesman in the World was published in 1968, but is still considered to be very applicable in today's world.
